ABOUT G P FRANCIS

I'm a British-born writer, artist and entrepreneur currently living in Vancouver, Canada with my wife and three daughters after emmigrating in 2003.

Hobbies and interests include electronics projects, mountain climbing, parkour, meditation, snowboarding, invention and design, taiko drumming, ukiyo-e, martial arts, singing and playing guitar.

My first published short story, Vigi-Santees, is a darkly-comedic thriller in epistolary form, a tribute to and emulation of the styles of H P Lovecraft and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I wrote it for an anthology entitled Ain't No Sanity Clause, by UK publisher Fringeworks in December 2012, available for purchase through Amazon.

I'm a fan of Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams, although humour rarely emerges in my own work. Literary influences include Philip K Dick, J R R Tolkien and William Gibson.

My last completed project, Primed, is a sci-fi thriller exploring the nature and value of human existence and identity, with themes including the logical conclusion of information technology and its ramifications for personal privacy and freedom, and the ethics and dogmatism of human cloning and genetic augmentation. The novel was published on March 1st 2013. I'm currently working on audiobook and screenplay adaptations, coming to headphones and cinemas near you!
